Logic Express 9 “a tremendous value for musicians”
Comparing the new Logic Express to other digital audio workstation apps, reviewer Christopher Breen (macworld.com) writes: “There just isn’t a better DAW deal than Logic Express 9.” Citing its inclusion of “marquee features” like Flex Time editing, Amp Designer, Pedalboard, and Varispeed from Logic Studio, Breen suggests that “once GarageBand users discover some of these features they’ll wonder how they made music without them.”

Blogging even at the top of the Everest. Sure you can!
With your MacBook Pro and iPod along with other basic supplies, you may now visually trace back your track even at the peak of Mount Everest while taking the most difficult challenge in its proud peak.
This can be proven by the team who took the Everest challenge, The First Ascent team.
Gerry Moffat, head of production for the team, films daily dispatches and uses his MacBook Pro to transfer and edit the data. All of the footage is shot on a solid state cards on the mountain.
“It’s then put into the trusty MacBook Pro,” Moffat said in a video on the Web site. “These have been functioning superbly all the way up—we’re at about 21,000 feet.”
After the footage has been backed up, the card goes to one of the sherpas who takes it to the base camp for editing. The video editor, Tom, then makes another backup of the data and begins editing the footage for public viewing.
The relevant clips are imported into Final Cut Pro, Apple’s professional video application. Music is added, the video is edited and the dispatch is ready to be encoded for the Internet. The files are uploaded via satellite connection to an FTP server in the U.S. and posted to the Internet.
Documenting the journey is not the only reason to carry Apple gear on Everest. Each climber has an entertainment pack that they carry for rest periods. Many of them chose to bring their iPods.

“Twenty-three-year-old Nicholas Woodhams was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty in April to mail fraud and money laundering,” AP reports.
“Federal prosecutors say he figured how to guess the serial numbers of iPod shuffle music players still under warranty and repeatedly used the Cupertino, Calif., company’s Web site, pretending to be a consumer with a broken unit in need of a free replacement,” AP reports. “He then cheaply resold the new Shuffles.”

Ripping DVD Beyond Handbrake’s Default
If you are a Mac user and wanted to rip your commercial DVD so you can play it on your AppleTV, iPhone or iPod, the free video transcoder “Handbrake 0.9.3″ is one of the easiest way to do it.
Christopher Breen reports for Macworld:
“With a copy of the free VLC installed on your Mac, HandBrake can rip most DVDs made today, and the results it produces are quite watchable.”
Breen reports, “But suppose you want to go beyond the defaults—tweak HandBrake to produce videos that take up less room on your iPod, dispense with a movie’s closing credits, or bear subtitles? It’s all possible with HandBrake, but it takes some tweaking,”
