Dan Moren (macworld.com) reports that the iPhone has maintained its “head-of-the-class standings” in the latest J.D. Power & Associates customer satisfaction studies and that “its lead has only grown more dominant in the latest numbers.” Writes Moren: “In the consumer market, Apple scored 811 points out of a possible 1000, handily besting the industry average of 765. On the business side, Apple’s lead was equally impressive. The company scored an 803-point ranking, 79 points above its second-place rival, RIM’s BlackBerry.”

Kevin Burton, founder and CEO of Burton Asset Management, a business continuity and disaster recovery firm, has a very focused job description: “I make sure that people are prepared for the unforeseeable.” Key to enabling that client preparation is Burton’s iPhone: “With iPhone in my hand, I’m connected to everything. I have everything I need to know to do my job,”

- Click on “Check for Updates”

- You should see the dialog box above. Download and install that magical .ipcc file.

- After the update–which should take no time at all–you’ll get the dialog box that your carrier settings have been updated.

- Unplug your iPhone and turn it off.

- Turn it back on.

For global consulting firm Logica’s perpetually mobile consulting staff, iPhone provides reliable connectivity and new offerings in the way of custom-built iPhone applications for their customers.

Noting the popularity of taking and sharing pictures with iPhone, Jim Dalrymple (loopinsight.com) selects and reviews “a few of the best” iPhone photo apps. Writes Dalrymple: “There are apps available on the App Store that will help you take better photos and edit them before you upload them to MobileMe, Facebook or Twitter.”

Bishop reports, “When Ballmer was making his big entrance — slapping hands, running around, and generally whooping things up, as is his tradition at these events. That was when he spotted someone at field level, allegedly a member of the Windows group, using an iPhone to take his picture.”

“Ballmer grabbed the Apple device from the employee and made some funny remarks as everyone booed. Then he put it on the ground and pretended to stomp on it, before walking away,” Bishop reports. “The scene was visible on the big screen, so even people in the upper deck could see what was happening.”
